WASHINGTON, DC, Febraury 7, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amelie Constant, Executive Director of DIW DC, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in economic research.
With a fascination with human behavior, Dr. Constant found her calling in economic research that focuses on minority populations, especially immigrants. Widely recognized for her work, she is executive director of DIW DC, a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan economic education and research institution. The organization focuses on current and emerging socioeconomic issues, both domestically and internationally, and engages its participants in educational and research activities. Besides the standard responsibilities of the executive director, Dr. Constant conducts primary research on her own and publishes it in refereed scientific journals. She also presents the institution's latest findings and at conferences and international congresses; she also oversees the free dissemination of information to interested parties.
Additionally, Dr. Constant maintains relationships and engages in collaborative efforts with institutions in Germany, France, Greece, Africa and China. For example, she acts as the vice dean of the graduate center at the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin and the program director of migration at the Institute for the Study of Labor in Bonn. She also serves as a visiting professor at the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University, where she teaches a graduate class. In addition, she provides graduate classes at DIWDC and internship opportunities to first-year Ph.D. students from Germany.
Dr. Constant began earning her long list of academic credentials at the University of Athens, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and mathematics. She then received a Master of Arts in economic development at the Universite de Paris II before pursuing a Ph.D. in labor economics at Vanderbilt University. Following this, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The University of Pennsylvania. She maintains her expert knowledge through various affiliations including The American Economic Association and the Population Association of America.
