With 35 years of professional experience, Mr. Girard is a partner of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. The company is a leading business law and litigation firm, and also a full-service firm that covers every area of the law, which has a dynamic scope of expertise with multi-jurisdictional teams of lawyers from across the practice area. Specializing in business and real estate law, Mr. Girard oversees a group of business lawyers and represents clients from government and para-governmental entities in financial transactions including public and private partnerships, securities, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures. Over the years, he has worked in the development of forestry resources, as well as in financial transactions on behalf of the Ministry of Finance of the Province of Quebec. He also represented a Quebec Crown corporation with respect to an investment in the Montreal Canadians hockey team, as well as the Quebec Ministry of Transport with respect to a private public partnership relating to the implementation of service areas on Quebec highways.
Mr. Girard obtained his Bachelor of Civil Law in 1971 and his Bachelor of Arts in 1968, both from Laval University. He is a member of the Quebec Bar Association, the Board of Directors of the Associate Members of the Quebec Forestry Industry Council and the Canadian Bar Association, and served as a board chairman of the CDM Papiers Decors Inc. In the future, he intends to continue practicing law and assist young lawyers.
